TRAVEL

  • Fly into Guatemala City – La Aurora International Airport (GUA). Most flights from the United States connect through major hubs such as Miami, Houston, or Washington Dulles.

U.S. citizens do not need a visa for stays under 90 days; however, passports must be valid for at least six months beyond your travel dates.

  • Antigua is approximately 45–60 minutes from Guatemala City depending on traffic. We strongly recommend arranging pre-booked shuttle transportation rather than taxis (see link below).

Shuttle services provide door-to-door pickup and drop-off directly from the airport to your hotel and are safe, reliable, and commonly used by travelers.

To make things as seamless as possible, our wedding planner offers a service to coordinate airport transfers for guests.

If you'd prefer help arranging transportation to and from Antigua, you can book directly through their team here: Click Here to Book Travel

Private Van Option - 45 mins

Private Black Car Option - 45 mins

Private Helicopter Option - 12 mins

This is a convenient option if you’d rather not coordinate independently.

  • Antigua is very walkable and compact, especially within the historic center. At night, tuk-tuks or hotel-arranged taxis are easy to find and recommended. As with any destination, please be mindful of personal belongings.

  • The local currency is the Guatemalan Quetzal (GTQ), though U.S. dollars are widely accepted. Most hotels, restaurants, and shops accept credit cards, and ATMs are readily available throughout Antigua.

Tipping is customary but modest—around 10% is typical if not already included.

  • Most hotels and restaurants offer reliable Wi-Fi. International phone plans or eSIMs work well, and WhatsApp is widely used for communication in Guatemala.

  • June is warm with occasional afternoon rain showers. We recommend:

    • Comfortable walking shoes (Antigua has cobblestone streets)

    • Light layers for evenings

    • Rain protection just in case

    • Appropriate clothing for excursions (hiking shoes, outdoor gear, etc)
